WA State DSHS Information on Public Charge

The State of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is aware of proposed changes to federal immigration rules that could apply to people who receive public benefits. We are monitoring these possible changes and want to provide accurate and reliable information for individuals and families who may be impacted by changing policies. Information about the proposed changes are available in the following languages:

Vietnamese

It is important to remember that this is only a proposed rule at this time, and not finalized or effective.  By federal law, a public comment period is required and then the administration is required to read and respond to every unique comment before it can finalize and implement the regulation. The 61 day public comment period ends on 12/10/2018.
