Interpreting and Communicating for Difficult Health-related Conversations

This free virtual short course is comprised of interactive, interdisciplinary education using a mix of lectures, case studies, and small group work. The course is geared toward community health workers, social workers, clinicians, and interpreters. CME credits available; CEAP accreditation is pending. Space is limited.

  • Identify best practices for person-centered communication during difficult health-related conversations.
  • Recognize the complementary roles of the interpreter and clinician/resettlement staff member.
  • Discuss advanced skills for building rapport, communicating clearly, handling tension, and demonstrating empathy when working across languages and cultures.
